Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a Fullstack Developer (PHP + JavaScript) to join a product-focused security company delivering video monitoring solutions powered by AI detection and real-time alerting.

In this role, you will contribute to improving and extending an existing production platform used for monitoring, alerts, integrations, and operational workflows. You will work across backend and frontend layers, helping ensure reliable communication between systems, browser clients, APIs, and backend services.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working with legacy codebases, debugging production issues, and building pragmatic, maintainable solutions in a realtime environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain integrations between internal and external services
  • Improve and extend an existing PHP-based production platform
  • Work on realtime communication flows between frontend and backend systems
  • Modernize legacy code while contributing to new feature development
  • Improve code quality, structure, and overall engineering standards
  • Troubleshoot production issues, investigate root causes, and fix bugs
  • Build and improve REST APIs and backend services
  • Contribute to frontend features using JavaScript/jQuery
  • Write and maintain unit and feature tests
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions
  • Contribute to improving system performance, reliability, and security

Required Experience & Technical Skills

  • 4+ years of experience with PHP in production environments
  • Good understanding of core PHP concepts and backend architecture
  • Experience working with legacy systems and refactoring existing code
  • 3+ years of experience with JavaScript (jQuery and/or Vanilla JS)
  • Good understanding of AJAX and frontend/backend communication flows
  • Strong experience with MySQL and SQL query optimization
  • Experience working with REST APIs (integration and consumption)
  • Understanding of concepts such as:
    • headers
    • authentication
    • webhooks
    • CORS
    • async communication
  • Experience debugging production issues using logs and monitoring tools
  • Experience with Docker and containerized environments
  • Comfortable working in Linux-based systems

Nice to Have

  • Experience with:
    • WebSockets
    • polling
    • queues
    • notification systems
    • realtime updates
  • Experience with VoIP or SIP communication protocols
  • Experience writing unit tests or working with TDD practices
  • Exposure to modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React)
  • Familiarity with event-driven systems or microservices
  • Understanding of web security principles (XSS, SQL Injection, CORS, etc.)
