Purpose of the Role
The Senior Python Engineer will join a newly formed product engineering team responsible for building and scaling a modern application from the ground up. The role focuses on designing and developing reliable backend services, contributing to architectural decisions, and supporting the delivery of scalable and maintainable solutions in a fast-paced product environment.
The platform will handle sensitive user data and requires strong attention to security, privacy, and reliability standards. The engineer will contribute to building systems designed with data protection, secure integrations, and long-term scalability in mind.
This position involves close collaboration with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver high-quality features, improve system performance, and ensure the platform supports future growth.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python
- Build scalable APIs and services supporting modern application architectures
- Collaborate with frontend and product teams to deliver end-to-end features
- Contribute to system architecture and technical decision-making
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following best practices
- Ensure high standards of application security, data protection, and reliability
- Optimize application performance, scalability, and system stability
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
- Support continuous improvement of development workflows and engineering standards
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues when necessary
- Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing within the team
Required Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Senior-level experience as a Backend or Python Engineer
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern backend frameworks (e.g., FastAPI, Django, or similar)
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and scalable backend services
- Solid understanding of software architecture and system design principles
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases
- Experience building secure applications and working with data protection best practices
- Experience with cloud environments and containerized applications
- Familiarity with Git-based workflows and modern development practices
- Strong English communication skills and experience working in remote teams
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical solutions
Nice to Have
- Experience working on greenfield projects or new product development
- Familiarity with microservices architecture
- Experience with asynchronous programming and performance optimization
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing practices
